Passionate humanitarian and child advocate, Tomia Zongkazih, has shown love to some orphans and vulnerable children in Yaounde. Acting for her child welfare organization known as “Children’s Fate”, Tomia spent a whole day at the Zion Rehabilitation Center, in Yaounde, where she handed food and none food items to kids which also enabled her to assess the day to day life of the children. The items worth 300 thousand FCFA included rice, soap, toilet paper, vegetable oil, onion, soap, biscuits and sugar among others.
The items were received by the Chief of the Zion Rehabilitation Center in Yaounde, Mr. Ayong Godwill in the presence of some partners and other philanthropists.
Speaking about her concern for the kids and the outreach, Tomia said “I brought in my colleagues, friends and other members of this organizations to celebrate with these gifts and give them what we can offer. We have been partnering with them since 2023 and it has been wonderful but looking at their situation, there are 2 rooms for 32 kids and it is so pathetic. Their roofs are bad, it’s raining in their houses. Even their living room condition if their living room is bad. The children have been eating once a day since the founder of this orphanage fell sick so we decided to come here and share with them any little thing we have for them foodstuff, cloth, first aid, shoes and we have been sponsoring kids from here. I personally sponsor 4 of them here.”
Tomia is calling on the public and people of goodwill to respond to the concerns of orphans at the Zion Rehabilitation Center “these children need our help, we would continue to sponsor them. We would continue to come here and give them help but they need more than children’s fate. They need more people to come and assist them with their roofs, assist them with space, more food, more clothes, education, healthcare because they get sick and there’s no way to pay their medical bills so if you are listening to me right now, Zion Rehabilitation Center displaced from Batibo needs us. These kids need us so much so whatever you have, don’t think it is small, you can donate it to these kids and it will help them”
The outreach by Children’s Fate, took place on the International Day of the African Child which is a day se aside to to prioritize children’s needs, ensuring they grow and reach their full potential.
