Imams from the North, Far North and Adamawa Region have voiced President Paul Biya to seek reelection for the 7th term. The imams of the Islamic Religion presented a written declaration to the Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, for him to hand to the Head of State, Paul Biya for a 7th term reelection into the supreme magistracy of the State of Cameroon. The Imams were joined by traditional rulers of the Fulani culture from the three Northern Regions of Cameroon and imams from Yaounde and Douala Central Mosques. They gathered at the conference hall of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, on January 28, 2025 and sounded the declaration in support of President Biya’s Candidacy. Listing the reasons why Biya should seek another term they cited calm and peace that reigns in Cameroon, the rehabilitation of the Garoua-Ngaoundéré and Mora-Kousseri roads and a six year financial subvention to Hajj. The Imams proceeded with the blessing of Paul Biya, that he may have good health, strength and emerge victorious in the upcoming presidential elections. The 2025 Presidential Elections have been scheduled for October 2025. Biya who became President since 1982 has consecutively been declared winner six times, keeping him in power for 42 years now. If he wins, the scheduled elections in October 2025, his term in office would extend to 7 more years to keep him for 50 years in power.
