CAMTEL DISTRIBUTES 25 MILLION F TO BLUE TECH WINNERS

CAMTEL has distributed 25 million francs to winners of the Blue Tech Challenge. The winners emerged from a final competition organized on October 2nd, 2024 at Franco Hotel Yaounde. They competed in various categories including blue Star, blue Academic Innovation, blue Tech Women, and Handi blue.

The ‘Blue Star was a tech challenge to identify and promote Cameroon’s technological talent. The aim is to stimulate innovation and support the development of a strong digital industry in Cameroon.

The Blue Academic Innovation award was for the best university project, developed by students from any Higher Institute.
The Blue Tech Women award was for the best technological project addressing a challenge faced by women.
There was also the Handi Blue award for persons with disabilities which was awarded to the best project led by a disabled person or addressing a challenge faced by people with disabilities.

The Blue Tech Challenge, organised by CAMTEL, aims to identify and promote Cameroon’s technological talent. It is also to stimulate innovation and support the development of a strong digital industry in Cameroon.

Speaking during the competition, the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achid said the aim is “to honour innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial skills of Cameroonian youths” with the overall intention to elevate Cameroon towards” digital excellence”
The winners in the various categories were as follows

Blue Star

-First Prize – Afopezi Anuagueleh Moses.

-Second Prize: Ngbwa Hugues Cedric

  • Third Prize: Kenfac David

Blue Academic Innovation

-First Prize Nkwambi Treasure Bah

-Second Prize- Kombou konga Murielle

-Third Prize Megnemo Johan Wirdzegii

Blue Tech Women
-Megaptech Djambou Grace

Handi Blue
Hessack Rayan.

CAMTEL officials explained that the overall objective of the contest is to identify, assess, reward and promote projects, ideas, innovations and good technological practices from universities and higher institutions of learning, researchers and start-ups.
