Mayor Dighambong hands Youths 6 million F for back to school

The total sum of six million francs was split into thirty thousand francs per earner and the money was handed on 30th August 2024, to two hundred youths holiday workers as payment of service rendered during for the holiday job, provided by the Wum Council, under the leadership of Mayor Dighambong Anthony Mvo. The motive is to support them acquire school needs for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The ceremony to hand the money took place the Wum Municipal Council, presided over by the SDO of Menchum, Abdullai Aliou. Speaking during the ceremony he thanked the wum council for this continuous annual initiative. He also called on the Mayor not to relent his efforts in supporting the youths. He advised the parents and children to heed to school resumption.

On his part the lord Mayor, Dighambong Anthony Mvo, thanked the holiday workers for the work they have carried out for these two months. He advised them to use the money profitably especially on their education . He thanked the administration of Wum and Menchum, forces of law and order, parents and the population for the continuous support they give the Wum Council. The chairperson of works and infrastructure, Councillor Buo Ephraim Amuh, praised the students and youth for obedience, hardwork and collaboration for the two months . He continued to thank the Wum council for this continuous and constant support to the people of the municipality.

It must be noted that the first batch of 100 workers began on the 1st of July and ended in the 31st of July while the second batch began on the 1st of August and ended in the 30th of August.These workers kept public offices, churches and schools clean. They worked on the stretches of road from the Wum grandstand to SDO’s residence, grandstand to prisons junction, grandstand to court yard and many others.
