Minister Atanga Nji Warns Fake Political Movements Pressing for Transition.

The two clandestine movements being warned are “Alliance Politique pour le Changement” and “Alliance pour une Transition Politique au Cameroun” who recently visited separatist fighters sentenced to life imprisonment and discussed with them about advocating for a political transition at the helm of the nation’s presidency.. Honourable Jean Michel Nincheu, Member of Parliament is one of those leading the agenda for political transition. He expressly made a statement on March 9th which went viral on media organs that, he visited Sisiku Ayuk Tabe and other Ambazonians in prison, to discuss the agenda of a political transition.

Atanga Nji Paul, Cameroon’s Minister charged with the interior, associations, NGOs and political movements in a press release of March 12th, 2024, warns activists of the political transition, and calls the public’s attention that, the two organizations are fake, having no legal status in Cameroon. Extracts of the press release consider the activities of the movements including press conferences, meetings and consultations as non conforming. Minister Atanga Nji notes in the press release that “only legalised political parties can apply for authorisations from Administrative Authorities for public meetings, demonstrations, conferences or rallies, which are granted depending on the social climate and relevance of the reasons advanced”

“For close to three (03) months now, some political leaders, in quest of cheap popularity and in defiance of the legal instruments in force, have put in place two (02) fake associations called “Alliance Politique pour le Changement” and “Alliance pour une Transition Politique au Cameroun” in preparation for the 2025 presidential election”

“Any attempt to organise any activity under the aforementioned movements, or any other similar name in the pipeline, shall henceforth be considered by MINAT as casus belli”
