Barrister Nsahlai Amplifies for Retributive Justice on Ambazonians

Emmanuel Nsahlai, American-based human rights lawyer of Cameroonian origin is fortifying the fight against Ambazonian terrorism that is increasingly destroying human life and tearing communities apart. He is bent that terrorists should face justice for grievous actions done and that victims of terrorism and human rights abuse should be given meaningful assistance.
During a press conference in Yaounde on February 22nd 2024, Barrister Nsahlai, revealed international legal proceedings which he has embarked on, to ensure that, those who abuse human rights, fund the killing of human beings and destruction of property in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon should answer for their offenses. With victims of Ambazonian terrorism sitted next to him, the legal expert condemned bestial acts executed by terrorists, the most recent being the bombing in Nkambe on February 11th, 2024 which caused one death and several persons deeply wounded. He listed other harrowing incidents like the beheading on 2019 of Florence Ayafor, a prison warder in Bamenda and further death threats on her family relatives, the shooting of Ndue Derick that led to the disfiguring of his face, the shooting of Bah Peter and eventual ripping of his leg, the burning of the house of Senator Enwe Francis and mangling of his car, the derivation of millions of children from the basic right to education, the collection of ransom worth millions from several people and killing of their relatives in both in the Northwest and Southwest Regions.


Legal Actions Against Terrorism

Barrister Nsahlai says he has reported the Nkambe bombing for restitution upon the bombers.
“In the wake of the Nkambe incident, my legal team and I have embarked on a rigorous legal journey, leveraging every available avenue, both nationally and internationally, to bring the perpetrators to justice. We have filed formal complaints with the International Criminal Court (ICC), highlighting the acts of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes perpetrated by nationals of State Parties within the territorial jurisdiction of State Parties”
The Nsahlai Law firm has also filed complaints against peretrators of terrorism with several legal organizations including the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). This engagement is to track down those residing outside Cameroon who are financing and supporting terrorist activities in Cameroon.

Appeal for International Solidarity

The Barrister is calling on countries lodging terrorists to stand up for terrorism to have no hiding place. He cited Norway where Ambazonian terrorist war Lord Choh Ayaba Lucas is residing, Ireland, England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, USA, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana which hosts other fuelers of terrorists. He stated that it is important to forge a global community where terrorism finds no sanctuary, where justice prevails, and where peace and stability are not just aspirations but realities for all.

Creation of an Assistant Center for Victims


During the press conference, Barrister Emmanuel Nsahlai announced the creation of a Victim Assistance Center to attend to the physical, psychological and emotional needs of victims of terrorism. The Nsahlai Law firm in collaboration with the Cameroon Association of Victims of Ambazonia Terrorism (CAVAT) under Mme Yvonne Njoka shall put in place the center that shall facilitate access to medical care, legal aid, psychological support, and financial assistance to help the victims and their families rebuild their lives.
Both CAVAT and the Nsahlai Law firm are advocating support especially for people directly affected by Ambazonian attacks. They are emphasizing on a collective responsibility and a holistic approach that goes beyond the court room so that victims can recover.

Creation of an Assistant Center for Victims

Questioned on the progress recorded so far since the Nsahlai Law firm engaged in following up issues linked to terrorism, Barrister Nsahlai said about thirty Ambazonians out of Cameroon who are financing terrorism have so far been arrested and detained. He also responded to questions on the viability of his law firm saying that, criminal procedures though slow are rewarding because justice must take it’s course.
Barrister Nsahlai Emmanuel upholds that, there is need for the global community to jointly respond to the evil of terrorism in order to foster peace, unity, common good and the respect of human life.
