Godden Zama, who until resignation recently was the Limbe I District Chairman of the Social Democratic Front party, SDF, has not only dumped his post but also dumped the SDF party. He went to Facebook on December 7th, where he dropped a resignation message which read thus “My time with the party is up. I am grateful for every experience and cherished every moment. As a member of the party, 1 fought every battle, I never picked a fight, and I am grateful for my time in the SDF. I wish the newly elected chairman and his executive the very best. Sincerely yours Godden Zama”
It is worthy to recall that Godden Zama was one of the three candidates who aspired to replace late Ni John Fru Ndi, the SDF national Chairman during the recent SDF National Elective Convention that held in Yaounde in October 2023. Prior to the National Elective Convention, Goden Zama was tipped a favourite. This did not come to pass as Godden Zama came third in the polls. His resignation has surprised many who thought that, following his defeat at the polls it he will continue to militate in the party and give himself another chance, given that it was just his first try.
Godden Zama’s resignation has sent tongues wagging across the political hand. Many are waiting to see in which party he will drop his luggage. However, what is making more news is not the fact that Godden Zama has resigned, but the fact that since Hon Joshua Osih was elected SDF National Chairman, a spate of sesignations has hit the party. The former mayor of Toko and more than 200 other militants also dumped the party on November 6, 2023 to join the CPDM. The former SDF North West Organising Secretary also resigned and joined the CPDM as well as some militants in Mungo Division that have said goodbye to the SDF.
Hon Joshua Osih has answered his critics by saying that at he is in the process of rebuilding the party. Yet, many are criticizing him for not embracing the policy of reconciliation after picking the mantle of chairmanship.
