The organs signed a tripartite agreement on November 8th 2023, as the beginning of a collaboration to provide bountiful sport opportunities to Cameroonians.
The residence of the British High Commissioner to Cameroon at Bastos, Yaounde, was the meeting point where the sport endorsement was executed. The high witness to this, was ththe British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Barry Löwen who was joined by dignatories from across the board.
The three partners on the sports beat are Mrs Viola Ndi, the Proprietress of Green Springs Digital University, Dr Akepe Enobi, the Executive Director of EmpowerHer Tech Foundation and Steve Bellis, the Director of Kickworldwide. Green Springs Digital University currently operates with a faculty of Football and Sports Technology to train professionals in that domain. EmpowerHer Tech is an organization that makes use of digital facilities like Mobil applications to impart sport potentials. Kickworldwide is a UK- based company that specializes in sports development and education with focus on football. The goal of the partnership is to avail Cameroonians with both on and off the pitch careers in sports, sensitize them on sports wealth and make them acquire skills in sports.
These three have agreed to harness resources together in order to make Cameroonians reap from the myriad livelihood in sports. They accentuated that, the activities in sports profession go beyond just gaming on the field. Far from coaching, refereeing and playing,
people can pick up sports related jobs like sports medicine, sports administration and marketing, sports law, sports science and sports medicine, sports psychology, sports photography, sports turf management and lots more. They shall share their vision to provide comprehensive sports education in order to equip young people in Cameroon with skills, knowledge and opportunities to pursue their dreams in the sports industry. They uphold that, this shall go a long way to guarantee healthy lifestyle, social inclusion and civic participation. The three want to engage communities across the national territory to be involved in sports life.
Talking to the press, each of the partners expressed their motive in engaging in the sports avenue.
Steve Bellis of Kickworldwide said “What we would bring are new opportunities for young people across the whole of Cameroon to get involved with some of our programs. We would work with local coaches, we want to create new coaches to share ideas about coaching, we would create refereeing programs, that’s on the field but whereas off the field, we would bring in a whole range of new courses with Green Springs Digital University and EmpowerHer Tech Foundation. Lots of new courses to give young people in the world of sports” he spoke, concerning the areas that would be on spotlight.
In his reckoning, Dr. Akepe Linus Enobi of EmpowerHer Tech Foundation upholds that “Football is a very huge industry with a lot of opportunities and jobs especially off the pitch careers and with the lack of awareness, this partnership has created a bond where together with our partners we are going to advocate and educate people about careers that are existing off the pitch in the football industry such as sport technology, sport administration and marketing. Secondly we are going to work closely with our partners to develop a lot of innovative, emerging and technological tools and developments that would make access to football and knowledge about this industry accessible to everyone” he made known
Mrs Viola Ndi, of Green Springs Digital University spoke about the connection between the three partnering organs
“Concerning this convention, Green Springs Digital University is like a bridge between EmpowerHer Tech and Kickworldwide. We are actually a bridge because when we come in play, Kickworldwide comes with the know-how, EmpowerHer Tech is there to do the sensitization, meeting the grassroot people and Green Springs Digital University is actually there to form and train. This is the platform where kick worldwide can actually drive her dreams through. That’s why we come in as Green Springs Digital University” she said
Present to witness the signing of the contract were prominent personslities, among them, the CEO of CAMTEL -Mrs Yah Sunday Judith Epse Achidi, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Football Academ -Carl Enow Ngachu, HRH Angwafo IV of Mankon and Rev Father Zephyrinus Mbuh of Catholic Eduction amongst other personalities across Cameroon.
It is hoped that, the diverse areas in sports introduced in Cameroon would strengthen the sports culture with the view to strengthening social change, economic empowerment and personal development.
