On Friday July 14th, 2023, officials of the ICT University in Cameroon, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jean Emmanuel Pondi, had a cordial exchange with the ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to Cameroon, Kashadile Bukasa Muteba. The Congolese ambassador on visit, was first received in an in audience by the Vice Chancellor of the ICT University. The audience which was in camera, was followed by a convivial moment where both parties sought ways to widen the scope of their relationship.
During his visit, the Congolese ambassador interacted with the ICT University community. He had a courtesy moment with some Congolese students who have enrolled into the ICT University in Cameroon. He was also taken round the campus and was shown facilities including offices, lecture halls, the ICT radio and TV Station, games room and laboratories. Stopping over at the ICT TV station, the Congolese diplomat was hosted in a live program by a student journalist on the subject of his visit. His friendly approach on TV with the student journalist put smiles that further left foot prints on his visit.
Speaking while at the ICT University, H.E Kashadile Bukasa said, the choice of visiting the the school is because, some students from Congo defended their end of course studies in the institution with honorary distinctions recorded. To the ambassador, the presence of Congolese students in the ICT University in Cameroon can open up partnership and expand horizons.
“Authorities of this prestigious school did well to invite us to come and discover and see where our compatriots live, the ambiance and the atmosphere where they will complete thier studies and defend their work. I am positively impressed by the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Director of marketing and others here. My presence here is as though I am used to this country. The familiarity is so good,not to talk of when we will have to combine studies and university dialogues. So we will do everything for this partnership to grow and as compared both cultures are so similar. There is just a slight difference. Your culture is our culture” the ambassador elaborated the purpose of his visit in a press statement.
After a memorable moment with his guest, the Vice Chancellor of the ICT University made a satisfactory remark
“We are very happy to have His Excellency the Ambassador of the DRC here on campus. It is our invitation which he honoured. We are happy to have him and his delegation. We think that academic cooperation in Africa is very important. We should put our know how together. What they know and what we know, we should put this together to solve our practical problems. the challenges that we have are real and they can only be overcome when we put our heads together.
So i think it is important to be on the ICT domain because the domain of today and tomorrow is the ICT department”
The visit was further appreciated by the Board of Trustees of the ICT University. Speaking on behalf of the Board,
Epie Ananfah Eponsime said
“We want to thank the ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo for the confidence that his country has in the ICT University, sending Congolese to come here, study obtain their diploma and degrees to better not just the Congolese Soceity but Africa as a whole. This is a very strong bond, a very strong collaboration and wish to say thank you Mr Ambassador”
The ICT University in Cameroon presently counts hundreds of students from different parts of the world, among them, three Congolese. The visit of the ambassador was thus to show gratitude to the ICT University for academically transforming learners across the world, Congo inclusive.
