EYDA INITIATES WOMEN AND GIRLS to COMMERCIAL PASTRY

Some 38 females of the Esu Youth Development Association (EYDA) have acquired skills in commercial pastry. The economic skills were gotten during a capacity-building symposium at the ECUDA Meeting Hall in New Bell Douala. They learned how to production Scotch eggs, Peanut, Chin chin, Fish Roll, Meat pies and Doughnuts.

Apart from business skills in pastry, the members were treated to a counseling session by invited experts. Among the experts were Mrs. Kedzi Cecila Mbong who gave a talk on the benefits of empowering the Esu girl child. She also encouraged married and unmarried women to be financially independent.
Madam Foy Anastasia encouraged the ladies not to flee marriages as it is trending among youths today but said they should be resilient in order to build happy homes. Also present was the New Bell Branch President, Muabe Fuh Jude, who ensured a hospitable atmosphere while hosting. Other patronesses at the symposium facilitated the workshop and gave moral support.
Throughout the capacity building symposium, executive members of EYDA ensured that trainees effectively learn pastry skills. Among the executive were the National male president, Gedion Chu Fang who encouraged participants to concentrate and be disciplined so that they may go back filled with practical skills. “We expect them to initiate small startups in their homes to perfect their skills and eventually engage fully in business. The patrons and patronesses of EYDA and other wishers are willing to support this scheme to develop and pen down individual projects on the production and commercialization of any of the skills” Mr Chu Fang said at the end of the workshop.

The EYDA National female president Embi Miranda ensured sound organisation of the symposium, thanked the Host Branch, EYDA Littoral South, for accepting to host the event and pleaded with members to practice what they have studied. She also encouraged other ladies to join EYDA.
“I have pleaded with all the ladies who learned this pastry to practice it over and over again and send the videos in our ladies Whatsapp forum for others to see and copy the knowledge.I will always wish to organize this work shop often in the various EYDA branches for better perfection” National female president, Embi Miranda told the press at the end of the workshop.

After attending the capacity building symposium, participants attested that, they would carry on with the knowledge.
One of these is Lilian Sih, who has decided to take up fish roll making “From the above skills I have specialized in Fish roll and peanuts which I’m already making money from it for a week now. I remain grateful for the initiators of this powerful program and special thanks to EYDA National “Nahtum” Embi Miranda”
She said.

Eghem Evergerline plans to spread the knowledge gained from the training while starting a business “After the studies, I intend to go back to my branch and teach some of the ladies that did not attend. In this note, we have already started mobilising ourselves to do the training. I also intend to start making some of the items for sale especially meat pie”

A communique from EYDA reads that “the just-ended capacity building symposium is a promise made, a promise kept by the National President as Mr Chu Fang and his team are bent to see that all EYDA members especially the vulnerable females be self reliant”

The capacity building symposium took place on May 20, 2023. The executives of EYDA say they shall continue seeking financial, material, and human resources for the growth of the youths.
