The Diocese of Mamfe in the Southwest Region of Cameroon has celebrated the ordination of three new priests. Rev Clinton Tendongmo, Rev Samuel Arrey, and Rev Titus Eyong were raised from deacons to priests by His Lordship Bishop Aloysius Abangalo Fondong, Bishop of Mamfe Diocese.
The ordination took place at the Saint Joseph’s Cathedral, Mamfe on April 12, 2023.
The presiding Bishop expressed gratitude to the families of the newly ordained priests for their supporting and encouraging their sons into the priesthood.
The bishop urged the new priests to carry out their mission as messengers of God’s merciful word, stewards of holy mysteries, and teachers of the truth about God and the sanctity and dignity of the human person.
They were asked to believe what they read, teach what they believe, and practice what they preach.
The rituals that usually accompany priestly ordination was done. The newly ordained blessed the bishop as well as their family members.
The three priests were among over 30 new priests ordained that day into the five Dioceses that constitute the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province; namely Buea, Bamenda, Kumbo and Kumba.
The ceremony was that of joy and fanfare as the town of Mamfe echoed with sounds of jubilation from the newly ordained. Gifts in kind and cash were offered to the new priests by friends, family and well-wishers.
The newly ordained priests were considered as a miraculous replacement of a priest who voluntarily laicized in February 2023.
