The Wum Municipal Council on a mission to ensure hygiene and sanitation has handed equipment to it’s hygiene and sanitation department for effective cleanliness of the municipality. Mayor Dinghambong Anthony Mvo, Mayor of Wum Council handed two new tricycles and fifty thrash cans to the council’s hygiene and sanitation department for garbage collection. This was on February 3, 2023. The garbage disposal equipment were given to the council by the ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development.
The equipment have been acquired to assist inhabitants within the Municipality who have hitherto been doing the garbage collection and disposable unaided. Talking about the newly acquired equipment, the mayor said “With the support from the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development, MINDDEVEL, we can only hope that people will henceforth be disciplined in the management of garbage that they produce and throw everywhere.”
The mayor continued that the new tools are put in place to complement efforts made by the population and their council, to make Wum municipality clean. “We therefore seek the understanding of our populations. Let them know that they are the ones who produce the garbage and they have a duty to manage it responsibly instead of producing the garbage and abandoning it either on public roads, on the roadsides or in the yards of neighbours to give the impression that nothing is being done. We promise that we will continue to improve people’s living conditions” He said
“Your contribution will be clearly visible, because we will support the the cleanness village as we already started. It is about making the municipality clean for the common good of all of us. This acquisition is not enough but we are going little by little while hoping to make significant change. We have the ambition of providing more Tricycles so as to adequately clean our city. For now, garbage shall be collected twice a week; Tuesdays and Fridays. I urge you all to come out actively with your garbage on theses days. Before these days, please kindly manage them at home. It is a question of going gradually and rationally as well.”
