Minister Joseph Le Offers 500 Seat Church to Catholic Community

Joseph Le, Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms in Cameroon, has offered the gift of a new Church building to his country men of Bagofit who express the Catholic Faith.
He retroceded the building on January 29, 2023 to the Catholic community, officially represented by His Lordship Jan Ozga, Bishop of Doumé-Abong-Mbang Diocese.

Bishop Ozga blessed the Church, consecrating it to Saint Joseph. He invited the faithful to use the Church for prayer and reconciliation.

The bishop appreciated the gift as an act of faith.

The Saint Joseph Church comes to solve the problem of Catholic Christians in Bagofit who before now moved 45 kilometers to the nearest Catholic church located in Atok. The newly constructed church has a seating capacity of five hundred Christians.

Speaking during the retrocession, Joseph Le, descendant of Nkol-Mvolan of Abong-Mbang Sub-division and benefactor of the offer said he was moved by faith “we noted a real deficit of chapels that could allow believers to recharge their batteries, to exalt their faith and to praise God. My family thought we should take a piece of land and give to the church. I also made an appeal to my colleagues, brothers, sisters and friends to build this church and any many contributed. It is an occasion to say thanks to God. For all what he has given to us” he said
The donor continued that the gift is a symbolic honour to the Catholic institution where he owes his roots to, given the primary and secondary education which he obtained from the Catholic Church.

Dignatories from all walks of life attended the occasion.

Several bishops concelebrated at Mass to mark the retrocession. They include His Lordship Joseph Atangana – Archbishop of Bertoua, Marcellin-Marie Ndabnyem Bishop of Batouri and Victor Tonyé Bakot- Archbishop Emeritus of Yaoundé.
