Two Officials of ELECAM killed in different circumstances within forty eight hours have been replaced in office. The murder of the officials created vacancies at the office of Elections Cameroon-ELECAM, the office in charge of elections into political positions.
Upon the death of the two officials, the vacancies were filled following decision No 000014, 19th January 2023, signed by Essousse Erik, Director General of ELECAM.
According to the decision, Madam Sirri Hilda Ade replaces Khaiy John Fai as Momo Divisional Head of ELECAM. The replaced personality was killed by a mob, Thursday January 19, 2023.
By thesame decision, the Post of District Head at ELECAM in Jakiri, Bui Division-Northwest Region of Cameroon which was formerly occupied by Yufela Gilbert Teteng until being shot death on January 18, shall be occupied by Kunsa Lawrence.
News Media companies say there is an atmosphere of shock, following the prompt replacement of brutally assassinated ELECAM officials.
“An atmosphere of astonishment is the order of the day in Bamenda, chief town of the restive North West region of Cameroon following what many say was the immediate replacement of two officials of Elections Cameroon killed within 48 Hours in Bamenda” Dray Infos, a news online site described the mood surrounding the instant replacement.
“The rush to replaced the deceased ELECAM officials has angered many who say human lives mean nothing to the Biya regime” reports Mimi Mefo Info.
Other opinions hold that the instant replacement of deceased officials is a mark of administrative effectiveness as it guarantees swift continuity in service.
