Adamawa fortifies against Kidnapping and Cattle Theft

The Governor of the Adamawa Region Kildadi Taguieke Boukarou, has carried out a security check in Mbé Subdivision, Vina Division of the region. The security check was done in response to alarming criminality and lawlessness in the subdivision with a high record of kidnapping for hostages and stealing of livestock.

Three record cases of kidnapping were reported across three villages in 2022 in that part of the country; there was kidnapping in the village of Ngaoudjom between January 3rd to 4th, there was kidnapping in the village of Wouro Kessoum from December 10 to 11 and the same incident was also recorded from December 20 to 21 in the village of Nové. The kidnappers are reported to operate by breaking into households in the middle of the night with firearms. They end up asking for large ransoms in return for the release of the kidnapped people and livestock.

The governor of Adamawa thus descended to the field to strengthen the security chain and to reassure the populations of the will of the state and the government to work tirelessly for the security of people and property. “With the aim of ensuring the security improvement in the region, we have come to reawaken all the stakeholders in the fight against this phenomenon” the governor said.

He added that security would be tightened, more forces would be deployed in order to eradicate the threats and menaces in Mbé Subdivision and the entire region.
The governor’s tour to the Mbé Subdivision was on January 23rd, 2023.
