The minister of Territorial Administration Atanga Nji Paul has imposed a perimeter security at the landslide area in Damase, Yaounde. By the perimeter security, no activity is to be carried out where the landslide occured. He was speaking as he visited the area where a landslide happened.
“Firm foundation Anointed Academy” which is close to the area where earth slashed causing landslide has also been asked to relocate “We have a zone, the perimeter security where no one can invest. We have realized that the school is so close to the disaster zone. So the first thing is that we have discussed with the proprietor of the school to close the school so that they go to another side… Secondly we have to sensitise the population because we don’t really know what it is all about. Is it a landslide or some other thing we don’t know. So the technicians would come down and do a thorough evaluation. The area is not swampy and we have no rains but suddenly we had a landslide that caused the death of about fifteen people so it’s quite a sad event” Minister Atanga Nji said in a press statement.

The Minister also warned against the disrespect of town planning which could be the cause of the supposed landslide “We want to tell the population that we have to respect the instructions coming from the local administrative authorities. In every town we have certain places where you cannot construct. These are swampy areas and very delicate zones but people still go and construct in the swampy areas and when you do like that you not only destroy your investment but you endanger the lives of others and you become an embarrassment to the state”
