GOVERNOR ASSURES SECURITY FOR FESTIVITIES AND ELECTIONS

The Northwest  governor Adolph Lele Lafrique has said the security situation of the region would be stepped up for a serene festive and election period. He gave the assurance on 18th November 2019 after chairing a regional security meeting that brought together the Senior Divisional Officers and other security stakeholders of the region.

“The situation of the Northwest region is under control despite the security challenges we are facing in some hotspots. We have drawn with the security services and the admistrative authorities a plan to not only secure the  region ahead of the festive period but also to ease the implementation of the electoral process in the Northwest region” His Excellency Adolph Lele Lafrique said while granting an interview to pressmen after a close door security meeting.

The northwest region is known for kidnappings, theft, manslaughter and vandalism. The vices are very common in the midst of a prevailing Socio political crisis affecting the northwest.

He also revealed that the security measure taken now would be for delegates to observe and instantly report so that matters be handled speedily.
The governor also  said vigilante groups would be revamped inorder to help ease the security situation.

Concerning the municipal and legislative elections called by head of states Paul Biya on February 9, he said “I am appealing to all candidates to bound their files and table them and to electors to mobilise and go for elections and for for the entire population of the northeest region to organise themselves under administrative authorities and political leaders”
He further said  elections Cameroon has the task to safeguard elections by handling all security issues they can but also tabling difficult ones to the higher authorities.

The governnor also congratulated all the newly appointed SDOs who were at the meeting.

The security meeting was taking place on the eve of a national peace caravan for sensitization of proposals of the grand national dialogue. The forum was thus crucial to adjust an ugly situation in the Northwest where atrocities like rape, kidnap, robbery and murder are the day’s agenda.
